Prior to the colloquium a strategy paper with recommendations on the future of the German-Brazilian scientific cooperation will be drafted by the German and the Brazilian side. As announced in the programme, this paper will be presented in the morning of March 10. Subsequently, the participants of the colloquium meet in specialized workshops to discuss the ideas of the draft strategy paper for their respective academic disciplines and to develop further proposals. After lunch the specialized workshops will be continued with scientific presentations. The aim of these workshops with a broad selection of topics is the exchange of general information concerning the according fields of research. After an introductory presentation of the German group manager, four to six brief talks can be given by Humboldtians. We would thus be delighted if you had a brief talk to offer, concerning your current research. It should take no longer than 15 minutes, and should be commonly understandable. Please forward the title and an abstract (approximately 10 lines, preferably as e-mail attachment), together with your registration. The group manager will make a selection of lectures, based on the abstracts. If your proposed lecture was accepted, we will inform you no later than 6 weeks prior to the meeting. In any case, your lecture will be included in an abstract-booklet for the distribution amongst all participants. Lectures in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences should be given in German; those in the fields of Natural Sciences and Engineering may be given in German or English. Looking forward to meeting you in Porto Alegre in March, I remain Sincerely yours, Dr. Gisela Janetzke
